Cervical cancer deaths fall to zero in 20-24 year olds in England after HPV vaccine rollout
A new study shows that cervical cancer deaths have fallen to zero in women aged 20 to 24 in England, thanks to the HPV vaccine introduced in 2008. The research, published in The Lancet, found that without the vaccine, around 23 deaths would have occurred in this age group over the same period. As more people receive the jab and vaccinated individuals age, experts expect this progress to continue, though Cancer Research UK warns vaccination rates in England remain below target.
