The Saving Wildcats partnership is using extensive camera monitoring to assess the behaviour of captive-bred wildcats before they are released into the Cairngorms. By observing the animals without human interference, the team ensures they possess the necessary survival skills to thrive in the wild. This approach has already supported the release of 46 cats, with at least 20 wild-born litters recorded since 2024.
