Whitby Town Council is set to grant the Honorary Freedom of the Town to RAF Fylingdales in recognition of the base's 60-year association with the area and its role in national defence. This honour acknowledges the base's contribution to the local community alongside its ongoing work as the UK's primary military space sensor.
