Researchers at the University of Cambridge observed newborns aged between eight hours and three days old to see if they preferred looking at a human face or a mechanical toy. The study found that girls spent more time watching the face than boys, suggesting that some behavioural differences may be present from birth rather than shaped solely by social experience.
