Native oysters thrive in North Sea nursery off the coast of South Tyneside
Conservationists have released 16,000 native oysters into a new nursery off the coast of South Tyneside to help rebuild reefs that have declined by 95% since the 1800s. By establishing these self-sustaining colonies, the project aims to improve local water quality and restore the biodiversity that once thrived along the UK coastline.
