A new 220kV subsea cable is connecting Orkney to the mainland electricity network, finally allowing the islands to export their abundant wind and marine energy. This infrastructure project will enable 220MW of new renewable capacity to reach the GB grid, marking a significant step in integrating Scotland's island groups into the national energy system.
