The NHS in England and Wales is rolling out teplizumab, an immunotherapy drug capable of delaying the onset of type 1 diabetes by an average of three years. By providing this window before the need for lifelong insulin treatment begins, the treatment offers hundreds of young people more time without the daily requirements of managing the condition.
