Rewilded chalk grasslands along the HS2 route attract rare wildlife
A 127-hectare site near the HS2 Chilterns tunnel has been transformed from a wheatfield into a thriving habitat for rare plants and insects. The project has already seen the return of species like hedgehog clover, which had not been recorded in Hertfordshire for over a century, demonstrating how large-scale infrastructure works can support biodiversity recovery.
