Metal detectorists have unearthed 11th-century weaponry, including spearheads and mail armour, near an old Roman bridge a mile south of the traditionally accepted site. This discovery provides the first physical evidence of the battlefield, helping historians pinpoint where King Harold Godwinson defeated the Viking army in 1066.
