Scientists from the University of Glasgow have identified previously undocumented oyster beds by cross-referencing coastal place names with Gaelic and Scots terminology. This method helped confirm the historic presence of oysters on Mull and Islay, providing a map for conservationists to help rebuild native populations in these coastal areas.
