New £1bn fleet of dual-powered trains to serve the Transpennine route
A £1bn deal has been signed for new Adessia trains that will run on both electric and battery power between Manchester and York. These trains will cut journey times by 14 minutes and support over 6,000 jobs across the UK supply chain, marking a significant step in the modernisation of the Transpennine main line.
