East Riding Council to switch off 2,500 street lights on A-roads after successful safety trial
Following a successful pilot on the A1079 and A164 that saw night-time collisions drop by a third, the East Riding Council is expanding its energy-saving scheme to 54 more sites. By replacing traditional lighting with enhanced road markings and reflective studs, the project aims to cut carbon emissions and save £1.2m in public funds over the next decade.
