Forensic science graduate Hayden Leigh is using hair samples from a 120-year-old museum bear named Boris to refine techniques for identifying animal fur. By establishing a more cost-effective alternative to DNA analysis, this research aims to provide investigators with better tools to combat the illegal poaching and trafficking of brown bears.
