Gordonstoun pupils discover 1,000-year-old Viking church on uninhabited Orkney island
Students from Gordonstoun school uncovered the remains of a medieval church while on an archaeological field trip to the uninhabited island of Swona. Working alongside professionals from the Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology, the group identified foundations likely dating back to the 10th or 11th century - a find that could provide new insight into the island's Viking history.
