Private bailiffs in England and Wales will now be required to be accredited by the Enforcement Conduct Board to ensure consistent professional standards. The move follows a long-running campaign by the Leeds-based charity StepChange to protect people in debt from intimidating behaviour and unaffordable repayment demands.
