Volunteers begin work to restore 'missing mile' of Cotswolds canal
Volunteers from the Cotswold Canal Trust have started digging a new channel to reconnect a section of the Stroudwater Navigation that was filled in during the 1960s to build the M5. By creating a new route under the motorway, the project aims to establish a navigable waterway between the River Severn and the River Thames by 2029 - providing a long-term boost to the local environment and economy.
