The government has lifted the participant cap on its digital rail ticketing trial, allowing unlimited passengers on selected Northern and East Midlands routes to use GPS-based fare calculation. By removing the need for advance tickets or manual check-ins, the scheme aims to simplify travel and modernise the rail network ahead of wider national reforms.
