Work has begun to install electrification masts between Edinburgh and Tweedbank, marking the first physical step in transitioning the line to battery-electric trains. By preparing the route for modern rolling stock, the project aims to reduce carbon emissions and improve service reliability across the Borders by the early 2030s.
