Atlantic bluefin tuna caught off the coast of Whitby for the first time in 60 years
The crew of the vessel The Dominator have landed two bluefin tuna weighing over 300kg each near Whitby, marking the first recorded sightings of the species in the North Sea since the 1960s. The return of these fish follows decades of absence due to overfishing and the decline of herring shoals, offering a positive indicator for the recovery of marine biodiversity in the region.
