Conservationists remove 10,000 coins from the Giant's Causeway to protect basalt columns
National Trust staff have removed 20kg of coins jammed between the basalt pillars of the Giant's Causeway after years of visitor activity. The metal was rusting and expanding, causing physical and chemical damage to the iconic rock formations. This clearance work aims to preserve the site's structural integrity for the future.
