NHS England has treated over 100,000 people for hepatitis C since 2015, contributing to a 36% reduction in deaths over the last decade. By expanding testing in A&Es and GP surgeries, the health service is now one of the first globally to exceed World Health Organisation treatment benchmarks, putting the country on course to eliminate the virus entirely.
