Work has started on a new hyper-acute stroke unit at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, which will provide 54 beds and rapid access to specialist treatments like clot-busting drugs. The hospital's namesake statue has been temporarily removed to facilitate the build, but will return once the facility opens in 2028 to centralise and improve stroke care for the region.
