Scotland-wide genetic screening offered for specific cancer-linked variants in Orkney and Shetland
People with ancestry from Westray in Orkney or Whalsay in Shetland are to be offered screening for specific BRCA gene variants linked to breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers. Led by the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian, the project aims to improve early detection and preventative care for descendants of these island communities.
