NatureScot has refused a licence for the traditional guga hunt on the island of Sula Sgeir after new modelling suggested the removal of up to 2,000 gannet chicks could harm the local population. This decision marks the first time in four centuries that the hunt will not take place, prioritising the long-term stability of the seabird colony over the historical practice.
