Mammal ledges installed beneath new A421 dual carriageway
National Highways has installed raised ledges in drainage culverts beneath the new A421 road project between Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. These dry pathways allow badgers, hedgehogs, and other small mammals to cross safely beneath the carriageway, helping to maintain habitat connectivity once the road opens in 2027.
