Newcastle City Council and emergency services have installed nine new secure throwline boards along the River Tyne, bringing the total number of units to 23. The equipment is kept in locked boxes accessible via a 999 call, a measure designed to prevent theft and ensure life-saving tools are available during water-based emergencies.
