A stone relief depicting a Roman 'Genius' has been unearthed beneath a barrack floor at the Vindolanda fort on Hadrian's Wall. The carving, which once served as a domestic shrine for protection and prosperity, provides a rare look at the personal beliefs of those living at the site in the fourth century.
