Borys Zakharchenko, a chemist who fled Ukraine in 2022, has secured a research role at Newcastle University after joining the government-backed Specialist Training and Employment Programme. The initiative has helped thousands of participants find long-term work, contributing an estimated £31.5 million to the UK economy while providing stability for families rebuilding their lives.
