Mel from Malmesbury has completed a PhD in Epidemiology after leaving a successful career to help improve cancer diagnosis. Her sister Becca was diagnosed with incurable secondary breast cancer in 2016 and passed away two years later, which inspired Mel to return to education. Her research now supports GPs in identifying cancer patients who need urgent care.
