Jock the gorilla's preserved cells could help save his species
Cells from Jock, the late silverback gorilla at Bristol Zoo, have been cryopreserved to aid the survival of western lowland gorillas. Jock, who died in February after being moved to the zoo’s new site, was the UK’s oldest male of his kind. His tissues and sperm are now stored by Nature’s SAFE, offering a genetic resource that could support future conservation efforts.
