Dr Peter Jones has spent three decades restoring Welsh peatlands, which store 30% of the nation's land-based carbon despite covering only 4% of its surface. By repairing these degraded landscapes, he is creating natural defences against flooding and wildfires while helping the environment capture greenhouse gases once more.
