New guidance from the health watchdog NICE recommends that women with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) should have annual NHS checks to monitor both symptoms and long-term risks like diabetes and heart disease. The advice highlights the need for faster diagnosis and better care for a condition affecting up to four million women in the UK, many of whom face delays in getting help. Sharon Manship, who waited over a decade for a diagnosis, contributed to the guidelines after living with PMOS for 30 years.
