A van driver in Margate stepped in to assist an armed police officer by offering him a lift during a foot chase on 16 June. By driving the officer ahead of the suspect, the motorist helped police secure an arrest that might otherwise have been difficult to achieve - a rare instance of a member of the public directly aiding an active pursuit.
