Two children were reported to be in difficulty in the sea near Ramsgate Harbour this afternoon, prompting a response from the coastguard, police and lifeboat teams. Fortunately, the youngsters were rescued to safety by members of the public before emergency services arrived on the scene. The incident happened as parts of Kent experienced extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 31 degrees in Ramsgate.
