Tyne and Wear Metro to run every 10 minutes from December 2026
Starting in December 2026, Tyne and Wear Metro trains will run every 10 minutes during weekday daytime hours, up from the current 12-minute service. The change is part of a new timetable that will see six trains per hour serving stations outside central Newcastle and Gateshead, and 12 trains an hour through the central network. The upgrade follows the arrival of the new Stadler train fleet and aims to support growing demand, including from the new HMRC Pilgrim’s Quarter offices opening in 2027.
