Lanchester Wines has started drawing heat from disused underground coal mines to warm its 355,000 sq ft warehousing space in Gateshead. By using open loop water source heat pump technology, the company is demonstrating that mine water can serve as a scalable and commercially viable source of clean energy for large-scale operations.
