Merope Mills has been made a CBE for her work in establishing Martha’s Rule, a patient safety initiative that allows families to request a second opinion if they have concerns about hospital care. Named after her daughter who died from sepsis in 2021, the policy aims to shift the power dynamic in hospitals and ensure patients have a greater voice during critical treatment.
