Professor John Dark, who led the heart and lung transplant programme at the Freeman Hospital for over two decades, has been honoured by the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. The award recognises his thirty-year career in Tyneside, where his work in cardiothoracic surgery has helped save hundreds of lives and shaped the care provided to future patients.
