The maritime engineering group Balaena has acquired the APCL Group, which operates the historic Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead. This move aims to expand the UK's shipbuilding and repair capacity, supporting both the Royal Navy and commercial sectors while creating new jobs and apprenticeship opportunities.
