RSPB Scotland has purchased Bass Rock and neighbouring Craigleith Island, ending 320 years of private ownership by the Hamilton-Dalrymple family. The islands host the world's largest colony of northern gannets and a significant puffin population, providing the charity with a new base to address the decline of seabirds facing threats from climate change and food scarcity.
