University of Oxford and Moderna to trial cancer prevention vaccine for Lynch syndrome patients
A new mRNA vaccine designed to help the immune system identify and eliminate pre-cancerous cells in people with Lynch syndrome is set for initial testing this summer. Developed by the University of Oxford and Moderna, the trial aims to prevent the onset of bowel and ovarian cancers in those at high genetic risk - a step that could eventually be adapted to target other cancer types.
