Essity has opened a new £35m recycling facility in Prudhoe, replacing a 50-year-old plant to process waste paper into toilet tissue. By upgrading its technology to remove contaminants from recycled materials, the site can now reduce its reliance on virgin wood pulp - a shift that improves the sustainability of brands like Cushelle and Velvet.
