The Green Party has won its first ever mayoral election in Hackney, east London, defeating Labour after 24 years. Zoë Garbett, the new mayor, received 35,720 votes, while Labour got 26,865. The Green Party leader, Zack Polanski, declared that Britain's two-party politics is 'dead and buried'.
